“设计”和“艺术”虽在历史中同源、在当下交集，不可将二者混为一谈却已成共识。如若加以回想，“设计”和“艺术”的泾渭才不到200年的时间。在彼此区隔的“自洽”之外，能否涌现一股具有破坏性的创造力，让设计不只服务于客户，乃至让艺术不只为了艺术？ 在香港出生的著名建筑师傅厚民André Fu，就是这样一位主动突破边界的创作者。他在英国剑桥大学建筑系取得硕士学位，2016 年获巴黎家居装饰博览会“亚洲年度设计师”（Maison & Objet Asia）称号，入选英国《Wallpaper*》杂志“全球最具影响力建筑师Top20”榜单。 André的设计项目遍及欧亚，率领团队完成法国Villa La Coste酒店、香港瑞吉酒店、京都三井酒店、香港奕居酒店、曼谷华尔道夫酒店、贝浩登上海画廊、伦敦Berkeley 酒店的Pavilion特级豪华套房等蜚声国际的室内设计项目，以静谧内敛、缜密典雅的设计风格革新了现代奢华的体验。早在2018年，André就作为全球首位华人设计师与Louis Vuitton合作“Objets Nomades”系列，创作出极具代表性的Ribbon Dance沙发。 近些年来，André一直在建筑与室内空间之外进行更加个人化的表达，这些突破边界的创作是André在“设计”之外为自己留出的一片自由、省思的空间，凝聚着他投身设计艺术领域以来对于文化符号和艺术审美的感悟。他以青铜作为表达的主要材料，依循铜的自然特征为其赋予实用价值，经时五年创作出一系列灯具、茶几、桌椅等可收藏级设计品。
Though “design” and “art” share common roots, and have increasingly intersected in contemporary times, the consensus has long held that the two must never be conflated. Looking back, the parting of ways between “design” and “art” stretches back no more than two centuries. Beyond each field’s “self-sufficiency,” could there be some groundbreaking creative force that could make it so that design could be for more than just clients, and art could be for more than just art’s sake? Famed Hong Kong-born architect André Fu is one creator who has been actively breaking down boundaries in this way. He received his Master’s from the Oxford University School of Architecture, received the Maison & Objet Asia award at Paris Design Week in 2016, and was listed as one of the global “Top 20 Designers” by Wallpaper* Magazine. André's design projects are scattered across Asia, with his team completing such internationally acclaimed interior design projects as the Villa La Coste in France, the St. Regis Hotel Hong Kong, Hotel Mitsui Kyoto, the Upper House in Hong Kong, Waldorf-Astoria Bangkok, Galerie Perrotin Shanghai, and the Pavilion Suites at London’s Berkeley Hotel, transforming luxury experiences with a soft spoken and highly refined design style. Back in 2018, Louis Vuitton sought out André as the world’s leading Chinese designer to create the Ribbon Dance sofa design for their Objets Nomades series. In recent years, André has focused on more personal expressions outside of architecture and interiors. These boundary-breaking creations are like a free space for reflection he has carved out for himself beyond “design,” a place that brings together his insights into cultural symbols and artistic aesthetics accumulated since he first entered the design world. Bronze is the main material for his expressions. He follows the natural properties of this material to bestow it with practical function, and over the past five years has created a series of collector-grade lamps, coffee tables, and furniture pieces.
