LOUIS DUROT

Louis Durot，作为最早研究并使用聚氨酯创作的法国战后当代艺术家，一直是材料工艺创新的先行者。他曾协助20世纪最重要的法国艺术家和雕塑家César Baldaccini，创作载入艺术史册的“Expansions”系列。现被广泛应用于各种艺术形式的高分子材料聚氨酯，发明于20世纪30年代。这在当时属于新型材料，每次创作都需要特定工艺流程，让其膨胀直至凝固，形成比原始体积大几倍的软形状。由于聚氨酯难以把控，这让Louis Durot的作品在可控范围内带有不确定性，以此来呼应时代变化。

美国设计师Kelly Wearstler不仅在自己的家中收藏了Louis Durot的作品，更是在她的设计项目中也时常用到。其作品Spiral Chair（螺旋椅）更是被Vitra Design Museum纳入永久馆藏。Louis Durot的作品曾于巴黎Fiac艺术博览会（2018）、上海021艺术博览会（2021）、Design Miami 上海（2021）、美国佛罗里达艺术博览会 MIA Art Fair（2011）、美国棕榈滩艺术博览会（2011）等全球性设计博览会展出。

Louis Durot, as the first French post-war contemporary artist to study and use polyurethane, has been a pioneer of material technology innovation. He assisted Cesar Baldaccini, one of the most important French artists and sculptors of the 20th century, with the Expansions series that will go down in art history. Polyurethane, a polymer material that is now widely used in various art forms, was invented in the 1930s. It was a new material at the time, and each creation required a specific process that allowed it to expand until it solidified, forming a soft shape several times larger than its original volume. Polyurethanes are difficult to control, allowing Louis Durot's work to respond to changing times with a controlled degree of uncertainty.

Designer Kelly Wearstler not only keeps Louis Durot's work in her home, but also uses it in her projects. His Spiral Chair is included in Vitra Design Musuem's permanent collection. Louis Durot's works have been exhibited at Fiac Art Fair in Paris (2018), 021 Art Fair in Shanghai (2021), Design Miami Shanghai (2021) and MIA Art in Florida, USA Fair (2011), Palm Beach Art Fair (2011) and other global design fairs.
